Six months elapsed between the completion of these two bookshelves. The first was wildly ambitious. I introduced a number of new techniques and also decided to build the entire piece with solid cherry wood. I wouldn’t be surprised if wood movement ruins it in the future but despite its small errors I liked how it turned out.
The second bookshelf is excellent. Its missteps are negligible in their scope and visibility and the details are finely executed. It is my most accomplished work at the time of writing and, having placed it in my bedroom, I admire it daily with pleasure and pride.
