I built these as gifts, each constructed uniquely for its recipient. It is one of the greatest gifts I can give, an object conceived of my imagination and constructed by my hands, created for a particular person and particular personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cherry dog paw tray uses multiple routing techniques that still challenge me but I’m happy with how this one turned out. The flaws were few and minor. I can’t get enough of cherry, its character is boundless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charcuterie boards use the classic approach of face grained strips: it is the wood that elevates. Cherry, maple, and purpleheart compose an elegant combination while an exotic wood like canarywood has an irrepressible ability to surprise with vibrant colors and grains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The red ebiata board takes color and grain to another level. This board was meant to have a completely different shape but some mishaps led the design down another path. The design is classic but the deep red hue and dark mahogany veins are unexpected and all the more compelling for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The small olive board, however, is transcendent. The photographs do not do justice to the underlying wood, whose glowing golden color provides the perfect canvas for the chaotic whorls and unpredictable directions of the figuring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
